Egg Donations and OC

by NoMorePeriods, Sep 08, 2007 10:16PM
I am 45 and 2 years ago had a partial hysterectomy (and mesh put in vaginal wall to prevent bladder from falling again) and six months ago I underwent a total bladder suspension (because something failed the first time).  I donated eggs three times around age 30.  I did not have children after the donations.  Wanted to know what the research shows in relation to using the fertility drugs necessary to donate eggs and OC?  I asked my euro/gyno to take my ovaries because I was scared about the research I had read about the small connection to egg donation and OC.  He said he would not take them out because of my age and not to worry and besides he said that not many women my age come up with OC anyway.  What is the truth about this?  Thank you.

Hi there,
there may be some increased risk of ovarian cancer with infertility. it is not clear that this is because of ovulation induction. It is more likely that something is wrong with the ovary in the first place and that is why a person could not get pregnant.
