Am i having another miscarriage?

by Rachel-Mom, Sep 10, 2007 11:11AM
I had a miscarriage on August 7, 2007 (I was almost 7 weeks). I woke up and noticed that i was bleeding. I called the dr and they had me come in for an ultra sound right away. During the ultra sound they saw a sac that they said looked like it was about 4 weeks but no baby. The ultra sound tech said that at 4 weeks it very possible not to see the baby yet and maybe i was just off on my dates. I KNEW i wasnt off on my dates. So i went upstairs to talk to the Dr. who said the sac looks like a healthy 4 weeks and they would draw labs to see what my hcg levels are and redraw them in 48hr to see if they go up or down. If they go up im ok, if they go down it confirms a miscarriage. Well about 5 hrs later i passed the sac which was about 4 inches long. the bleeding slowed down tremendously and stopped 3 days later. the doc told me to wait 3 months to try again and dont have sex until i get my period (no sex for a month?! yeah right!) anyway, because the miscarriage was so quick and uncomplicated i felt like i was ok to try again right away regardless of what the doc said because i have read other peoples success stories of pregnancy right after miscarriage. So we try again. about a week ago my boobs started getting sore so i started to test. the first 4 tests were negative and the fifth was positive. i took the tests all on different days for a week. i was so excited!!! i called the doc the day after i found out and they ordered a blood draw to check my levels. well 3 days later (meaning yesterday) all of a sudden my boobs dont hurt and i start bleeding. i have been bleeding for a day now. No cramping like the miscarriage, and it really just "feels" like my period. Its as heavy as a normal period... But my labs came back that on friday (when they were drawn 4 days ago) they were at 17. well they were at 17 eight days after the miscarriage! Is it possible my levels have not gone down at ALL? How can i know if i had a new pregnancy if the levels are the same as last time? I called the doc who said he's not worried and he'll check my levels again in a week. Can you actually get your period before your levels drop back to "0"? I was pissed at the nurse because she couldnt answer any of my quiestions. they just want me to wait a week?!?!? Is this my period or a miscarriage? Maybe i had a molar pregnancy? i dont know what to think and noone can put my mind at ease? Any similar stories?! Please help!!!!

I am no expert but if you got neg.  HPT's then a positive I'd say it's a new preganancy.  As far as the MCing part hun I don't know what to tell you.  I always had tons of cramping with both of my MC so I don't know but I would take it as easy as possible until you get your 48 hour levels tested......good luck to you and I'll keep you in my prayers that this is not another MC.
