Problems after going to the bathroom...help!

by ohdear, Sep 13, 2007 11:01AM
Hi folks,
Very very embarassed about this so asking here first. After defacating, I get a blueish coloured lump on my anus about 1.5 the size of a pea. It goes away after a few minutes and only appears when defacating (perhaps the pushing?), and does hurt, but only a little. I also have a reddish lump on my anus that has been there for a while, which  believe could be a hemmheroid, so I'm just leaving it alone. It's the blue bump that worries me. could it be a tumor/cancer? I don't think its a hemmheroid ( i know i'm spelling that wrong!), because as I said it only appears at certain times.

Hope you guys can give me some advice, would like to avoid going to the doc. Thanks!

It sound like a hemerhoid, which is basically like a varicose vein in your leg. They can be pushed out while defacating and go back in. Perhaps a stool softener could help.

Yes---- hemorrhoid. As you are bearing down to have a bowel movement, the hemorrhoid (which is just a distended vein) becomes engorged with blood. When you stop pushing and the engorgement of the vein resolves after a few minutes or so, the hemorrhoid will seem to disappear until the next bowel movement or straining.
