Elisa Testis negative after 28 days

by guilt_killing_me, Sep 13, 2007 10:07PM
I had an encounter on Aug 13, 2007.
During the encounter, there was some accidental genital-genital contact but no penile insertion. I performed oral vaginal sex on her.

After 2 weeks, I had some throat infection with swollen lymph nodes.

I could not bear the tension and took  an HIV-1 Antibody by Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) with Reflex test on Sep 10th, 2007 (28th day). It came back negative.
I also took a 7 panel test for Herpes, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Hepatitis B & C.
All of them were negative.

Do you think I should still take HIV DNA PCR test to make sure? Please advise.

No ! You don't really need a PCR. Your risk is too insignicant to warrent any test. PCR tests are generally not meant for primary diagnosis and screening of HIV. These test are done in conjunction of CD4 test to decide about anti retroviral medication. Their probability of "false positive", and high cost are other associated disadvantages.

You should be feeling happy after getting cleared from STD's since HIV was never a risk for you. and you can collect your conclusive report regative after 13 weeks.
