Test negative after 28 days --- please advise ---- unbearable tension

by guilt_killing_me, Sep 13, 2007 11:23PM
I had an encounter on Aug 13, 2007.
During the encounter, there was some accidental penile-vaginal contact but no penile insertion or intercourse. I performed oral vaginal sex on her.

I could not bear the tension and took  an HIV-1 Antibody by Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) with Reflex test on Sep 10th, 2007 (28th day). It came back negative.
I also took a 7 panel test for Herpes, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Hepatitis B & C.
All of them were negative.

Now I have some throat infection with swollen lymph nodes on the neck.  for which I am taking antibiotics.

Do you think I should still take HIV DNA PCR test to make sure? Please advise.

if you haven't been tested in a while, minus the test you took on sep 10th, test again in two more months. Just for a conclusive result and peace of mind. from the incident you described you were as close to zero risk as possible. so expect another negative.

Extreme is right. Your risk was next to zero, you can proceed for you test only for own satisfaction and collect a negative report. You don't need a PCR, a simple, less costlier yet highly reliable ELISA would suffice. The only disadvantage of this test is, it is meaningful and conclusive only after 12 weeks.

This was good that your doctor ordered STD tests for you, since some of the curable STD's do transmit through oral route.
