is A LOT of bleeding normal?

i just had sex for the first time. i'm 18 years old. during, my partner stopped to check with me if everything was ok and noticed bleeding. when he got up sure enough, there was. i was bleeding A LOT. and now, im in a little pain. is this normal?..is there something wrong? there was a lot of bleeding and it scared me a little..
