Left shoulder and hand numbness

by ladoyle, Sep 16, 2007 08:22AM
Is Thoracic outlet syndrome the first diagnosis being made for left shoulder pain and numbness??
I was misdiagnosed after lifting a 400# patient with another nurse. I had immediate stabbing pain
between the shoulder blades that over night turned my left hand and last 3 fingers numb. I went to
the ER where they did standard Xrays that showed normal alignment and no fracture. The mistake
was going to see a Physician Assistant who stated I didn't need the cervical collar, but rather
Chiropractic care. I immediately went down hill and the PA did a lift test overhead where my disk
ruptured and I couldn't feel my body anymore... I had a HNP at C5-6 that put pressue on the cord
by pushing in 2/3 of the cord area. I had a hot cord... Is this normal to disreguard classic disc problems and go to the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome diagnosis??

I had a doctor do the same to me, diagnose me with TOS and wanted to give me injections.  After 2 years of thoracic paina nd spasms, my chiro said get a c-spine x-ray. I have a disk bulge at C5, C6 that is in the neural pathways.  I am doing traction on a DRX-9000 machine.  It is gentle stretching to pull that bulge back in with nutrients and hydration for the disks.  It is non-invasive.  You can not trust these doctors these days!
