Is this a high risk activity for HIV?

by collinc25, Sep 16, 2007 09:03AM
I am a sexually active gay man but i never have penetration sex.  I do not give oral sex, just recieve, and i have occasionally gotten fingered (but no bodily fluids besides saliva was involved).  A couple of weeks ago, i came down with a very severe sore throat.  It was so bad, they gave me antibiotics for strep without testing for it.  I felt better as soon as i took the medecine but now the sore throat is coming back.  Could this be a sign of HIV?  (i finished all of the antibiotics so i am worried as to why the sore throat is coming back).  Thanks

Extremely low risk activities. You don't have HIV.

1) If that's your exposure, you had no realistic risk for contracting HIV.
2) Sore throat alone is not considered a symptom for Acute Retroviral Sindrome.
3) Antibiotics worked, but may be you should take them for a long time, check back with your phisician.

Stay Well.

I agree with the guys above.  Nothing that you have done would be considered risky at all.  I never discourage people from getting tested for HIV (unless it is repetitive testing), but if you do, expect only a negative result.

As for strep, it can be persistent and you may just need to take another course of antibiotics.  Don't stress out over it.

very very low risk. It is as close to zero as you can get.

wouldn't this be zero risk?
