bulging rectocele

In the last few weeks I was diagnosed with a uterine prolapse with a rectocele as well as cystocele. Earlier this am I noticed something protruding out of my vagina and found it what I think was my rectocele.  I pretty much freaked out.  I am due to get my period in the next few days and last month my cervix was about 1/4 from my vaginal opening during my period.  So this makes me very nervous. The urogynecologist my OB/GYN wants me to see doesn't have an opening for another month. Should I be concerned?

P.S. I located my cervix and its about an inch up  so it definately isn't my cervix I was feeling.

Go to the website for the american urogynecological society (www.augs.org) or the society for gynecologic surgeons (sgsonline.org). put in your zip code , and they could give you a list of pelvic surgeons in your area. However, you should have no problem waiting for a month to get in. It is important to have a physician who is well trained. Make sure you ask about advanced training beyond basic residency.

are you a nurse?  i too have a cystocele and a rectocele.  i am having surgery on the 25th of this month.  i wouldn't be too concerned at this point.  a month from now will be ok for your app't.  can you call them and tell them the problem you are having?  maybe they can work you in.  what you felt may have been your bladder.  it may be close to your vagina.  good luck to you.
