Is there any way to avoid fat necrosis?

I do not find fat necrosis to be a common problem in breast reduction surgery.  Smokers are more likely to have this complications as a result of reduced blood supply to the tissues.  Carefully handling of tissue during the procedure to limit tissue damage is also important.
