AM I STRESSED OR SICK?

by CRW2RVR, Sep 19, 2007 12:40PM
I AM 34 YEARS OLD, MARRIED WITH 2 YOUNG CHILDREN AND HAVE MY OWN BUSINESS AND THE WIFE ALSO WORKS FULL TIME. MY QUESTION IS WHY DO I THROW UP ALMOST EVERY MORNING WHEN I WAKE UP? I THOUGHT IT WAS DAIRY FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE, BUT I CUT THAT OUT AND MY CONDITION STILL EXISTS. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN ZOLOFT FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW AND I KNOW IS WORKING TO A CERTAIN DEGREE, BUT COULD I NEED TO INCREASE MY DOSAGE? I AM EXTREMLY STRESSED OVER MY NEW BUSINESS. THE ONLYTHING RIGHT NOW I CAN DO TO CALM MYSELF DOWN, MAKE THE STOMACH FEEL BETTER IS TO SMOKE POT, WHICH I DON'T WANT TO DO ALL DAY LONG. ANY IDEA'S, COMMENTS, MEDICATION IDEA'S WOULD BE GREAT.

THANK YOU,
34 YEAR STRESSED DAD

Definitely sounds like stress to me. I'm only 21 years old and have realized the "awesome" power that stress can put on the human body.

You probably don't want to hear advice from a youngster like myself, but I would definitely Google some stress management techniques. I've done some breathing exercises to manage my stress and they've worked wonders.

Good luck sir :)

Great question!  When suffering from anxiety or panic it's not always easy to separate the 'normal' stress symptoms from the anxiety symptoms.  The morning can be tough for me either way... I've been under so much pressure in the past (work, relationships, etc.) that I've literally woken up in the morning or in the middle of the night in a pool of sweat.  Heavy drinking only complicated matters.

I'd suggest taking a good hard look at what's causing the pressures in your life and taking some positive steps to take care of them.  Drinking, smoking pot, or taking medication might provide some temporary relief, but may also just numb you while the underlying issues intensify.

I know that anxiety plays havoc on me in the morning.  At the least, I am nauseous.  At times, when my anxiety is much worse, I will dry heave a little.  All the symptoms usually subside in an hour or so.  Don't know why this happens, but it has been on-going now for years.

Hi,
Before you think it is mental . It may be physical. I had terrible nausea when taking zoloft and I had an upper GI done and they said my stomach lineing was inflamed. After I stopped taking zoloft my stomach problems disapeared.
May want to discuss with your doctor.
