what is going on?

Hello!  I have been reading the forums about MC and here is my situation.

I am a 21 year old straight male, never been exposed to chicken pox or another pox virus.  I am sexually active and have been with the same girl for 4 months.  Recently I went floating in an inner tube down a river twice and was in my wet swim suit for about an hour after I got out of the water.  I also started swimming at my gym's pool and hot tub every day.  There were two times where after I went swimming I did not take my wet bathing suit off for about 2 - 3 hours.

About 2 weeks ago I noticed four white bumps on the left side of my waist line, they did not explode like herpes does.  After taking a closer look, I had about 10 bumps around my left "sex line".  I forget the medical term for it, some sort of "fold".  The bumps have a white center, do not itch, are not painful, and are very small.

After reading online about how to remove them, I removed the white heads from 5 of them.  This probably wasn't a good idea considering how I have no medical training.  I completely removed the inner white core, it was hard, not pus like.  There was a substantial amount of blood, more than I expected.  The immediate area surround the bumps I messed with is red and appears agitated..  This may have to do with the fact that the bumps are right around where my pants sit on my abdomen and come into contact with my jeans (I wear tighter jeans).

I have had jock itch before and I know that not changing my swimming suit or showering right after I get out the pool is bad.  Could this be a reaction to the pool/river/not taking a shower?  I won't really mind if I have MC, I just don't want herpes.  I am coming here because I am embarrassed to go see anyone.  I need to know what kind of self-treatments I can use, what this sounds like, and if I am going to die.  Just kidding, but I really like some advice.  Should I go see a Dermatologist?  Doctor? Thank you in advance for your help, Doc.

This forum is limited to STD issues. You could not catch herpes simplex virus (either type 1 or 2) or the molluscum contagiosum virus in the way implied by your question.  Ditto for varicella zoster virus, the cause of chickenpox, not an STD.  (However, I question your certainty you were never exposed, since 90% of all people catch it in childhood, regardless of whether chickenpox was ever diagnosed.)

Any number of skin conditions can cause white bumps of various sorts.  Your description sounds like molluscum could be possible.  You'll need to see a health care provider to figure this out.  Your primary care provider, such as a family medicine doc, would be fine; so would a dermatologist.
