Tiny bump on Penis Head

by jte777, Sep 22, 2007 06:07PM
Two days ago I noticed a patch on the very center of my upper back (between the shoulder blades). There are a few other smaller white spots here and there on my back as well. Years ago a doctor told me the smaller ones were tinea versicolor and I never bothered to treat them and they more or less stayed the same. However, this larger patch, perhaps as big as half a dollar bill in size is new. I have been spending time in the sun working in the garden without my shirt on and here in Florida it has been very warm. Could this just be another patch of tinea versicolor that was masked before the rest of the skin began to tan? What simple things can I try to treat it before I to the prescription route. Have heard that Selsun Blue is often effective but am unsure how best to use it.
I am not sure if this is related to the first issue, but yesterday I noticed a pimple-like bump on the head of my penis almost exactly between the urethral opening and the back outer rim of the penis head.It is slightly raised, slightly darker than the surrounding skin, blanches, is painless, no bleeding/discharge, the size of a pinhead. Last sexual contact was at least 4 months ago and that seems long for a chancre to appear and it does not look like a wart. Sometimes prior to full masturbation my thumb does rest on this spot while I massage the penis head for a time, but that has been kind of a habit for years. I am not sure why all of a suddent that would cause this bump. As I said I think this appeared quickly, though I am not one to check my penis on a daily basis, so could have been there longer. But it definitely was not there before. I am applying neosporin and wonder if that is sufficient. What are your thoughts? I am a little concerned that I noticed the white patch and then this bump within two days, but find it hard to believe they are connected. Any words from you that could calm me down a bit would be great, greatly appreciated.

I think you're right about the back's being tinea versicolor.  Try applying Selsun Blue overnight for 10 days, washed off in the morning.  Remeber that even after the fungus is dead, lighter-colored tinea spots take months for the color to even out.

I can't think of any connection between that and the penis head bump, although that bump doesn't sound like much of anything.  I advise you to leave it alone as much as you can.  If it's still there in a month, show a doctor.

Best.

How come this bump doesn't suggest herpes? Just curious since I have been reading that a herpes lesion can be a bump or a simple rash.
