Reoccuring Boil?

by sdw640, Sep 25, 2007 05:54AM
I am 19 years old. The first time I had a boil was when I was in 11th grade. It was in the vaginal area. I used Icthammol ointment to get rid of it. (sp?) Now I have another spot, in the same area on the other side. It was not as painful as the last, but I did get it to come to a head. The pharmacy suggested Witch Hazel. I used this a couple times, and it didn't seem to help. Hot compresses worked for me this time, and once I finally got it to a head, a bunch of liquid and blood came out. I kept neosporin on it and kept it pretty well clean, or so I thought. A week or so later, it came back. All in all, it has been there a couple of months. I am a very clean person, so I really don't understand this. I try to keep it shaven down there so it is more sanitary down there. Could it be the shaving that is causing infection? What kind of effects to boils have on my health, and my body? And most importantly, is there anything you could suggest for a reoccuring boil, before I go see a physician about it?
