Test Questions

I would like help understanding my test results.  Earlier this year my TPO levels were in the 200's and TSH was at 4.6.  I was sent to an Endo. and had labs last week.  I am a former competitive gymnast and have had issues with disordered eating and absent periods.  I am working to correct the issue.  My family practice doctor said that when I regain the weight lost and resume menstruation that it could correct itself.  The endo. said "maybe."  The results are:
THS - 3.273 (rr 0.32 - 5.5)
TPO - 144 (rr 0 -34)
T4, Free - 1.06 (rr 0.61 - 1.76)
T3 2.2 (rr 2.3 - 4.2)
Anti-Thyroglubulin Antibodies 24 (rr 1-100)

My estrogen has gone to "undetectable" to 24!  However, the Vitamin D was low.  I was given a Vitamin D prescription and told I would be fine.

Any insight?

Thanks,
Keleigh

You have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis with mild (subclinical) hypothyroidism.  This does not mandate treatment with thyroid hormone, but needs to be watched for the development of a more severe hypothyroidism.

The lack of periods may be contributed to by this mild hypothyroidsim but moreover is likely due to low body fat/eating disorder (as you imply).

With the positive thyroid antibodies and low Vitamin D, would check celiac sprue antibodies as a cause of the low Vit D.
