pitocin and reflux?

by ponderousmom, Sep 26, 2007 01:41PM
my daughter has silent reflux and many complications because of it--from talking to others, im noticing that alot of the babies were born after labor was induced with pitocin--im just wondering if anyone else thinks it might be connected.

What is silent reflux?  My son had reflux and my new baby has horrible reflux.  Like choking, can't breathe reflux, very mucousy and arches her back.  They were both induced.

silent reflux is just what you described--instead of that muscle making it project 12 feet across the room it just lays in there and the stomach acid eats at their insides--it aint pretty--watch her close!! mine had an aspiration--thats how i found out what it was--they make extra mucous to defend themselves from the acid--they should give you some zantac, it helps

I wonder if you ever addressed this question with your doctors? My daughter is 16 months old, also induced delivery with pitocin, and has been dealing with silent reflux. I'm just curious because I didn't see any of the PA or MD responses on this forum.
