Shingles immunization

Dr didn't tell me about the shingles immunization until I asked him. I am in my early 70's. Has anyone take the innoculation and did you have any adverse effects? Did your dr. suggest taking the innoculation?

I had a bad reaction to this immunization. I had a lot of swelling and soreness to my left temple and forehead with head achiness.

How long did the reaction last and are you ok now. My doctor recommends but I am leery about it. Thanks for your response re shingles immunization.
