Bleeding During Ovulation

by sarah59, Jul 10, 2006 12:00AM
Hello All, I am a 46 year old woman who for the last 4 months has been experiencing spotting approx. 1 week after my regular period ends. I continue spotting almost every day until my regular period begins again and then I have a regular period for approx. 7 days.  So, I get about 1-1/2 weeks a month with no bleeding.  I have seen my doctor and have had ultrasounds, pap tests, etc. and all have shown no real problems except that I have fibroid tumours (which I've known about for about 12 years).  My doctor says I am perimenopausal.  Has anyone else had this experience.  My mother is currently going through cancer treatment (breast cancer) and quite frankly I am a little concerned that this may be early stages of ovarian or uterine cancer.  I have no pain or discomfort.  I have never had a pregnancy and I started my period at the age of 11.  Thank you in advance for any information or guidance you can give.

Hi Sarah, I am new to this site, so bear with me.  I have had similiar symptoms such as yours, mine started 2 years ago, spotting between periods, about 7-10 days after my periods, I went to my gynecologist immediately, through some testing I found out I have uterine polyps, they were biopsied normal but I still currently have the bleeding between periods, and now some cramping, he suggested I have my uterus removed because I have soo many polyps.  Have you had a hysteroscope done yet?  Or a biopsy of your uterus?  I would suggest further testing be done, they are simple procedures under light anthestetic, the longer you wait the more you will worry.  Good luck, let me know how everything comes out.
