Mri help

by Stairman, Oct 01, 2007 12:43PM
Good day all,

I have been looking at my MRI results, and in a total state of confusion here.

It says, at c3-4 there is a large right paracentral disc herniation having the apperance of an extrusion extending at least 7mm beyond the confines of the annulus and approximately 3-3 mm below the level of the annulus. There is a marked effacement of the ventral subarachnoid space with ventral impression upon the right aspect of the cervical cord.

C4-5 there is a moderate-sized, right-sided posterolateral disc heriation that has the appearance of a protrusion measuring 4 mm beyond the confines of the annulus. This flattens the ventral subarachnoid space, but not abut the cervical cord. This more significantly encroaches upon the right neural foramen with moderatly sever narrowing and likely compression upon the existing right C5 nerve root. There is moderate left-sided neuroforaminal narrowing also present.

My NS told me that there is no other method that is going to fix this except surgery. He said we have to fuse C345 .I have been treating with a chiro for 3 months now, and he thinks he can fix me. I have been seeing him 3 times a week, and massage therapy 1 a week, with no relief from pain.
I can hardly move when I wake in the morning, takes me about 30 minutes to get out of bed. I am dropping tools allot at work, seem to loose my balance easily, numbness, or tingle in my left arm and hand, and of course pain in my neck.

I guess my question is does anyone out there have a C345 fusion out there?
How long before you returned to work?Is this going to seriously limit me in life?
I install custom staircases for a living, and the things I do are extremly heavy.
Any help, advise I can get would be great.
Thank You
