Cervical Spine issues

by Sklnxbonz, Oct 02, 2007 01:36PM
I have a report from an MRI of my C-spine. I am having a little difficulty understanding what the real issue is.  A little background about myself.  I am a male, 36, pretty active outdoors etc. and in decent shape.  I have been suffering off and on over the past 4 years with some pretty bad neck pain which the DR would give me muscle relaxers and pain medicine to relieve.

The problem became worse and more frequent.  I even tried chiropractic care (2-3 times a week) which helped but I kept going right back into the pain mode the day after adjustment.  My medical doctor order xrays and MRI.

The MRI report shows C2-C3 mild left neural foraminal narrowing secondary to unconvertebral joint spurring.  No chord flattening or central stenosis.

C5-C6 there is a small posterior disc osteophyte complex eccentric to the right that indents the thecal sac without chord flattening or central stenosis.  There is mild right neural forminal narrowing secondary to uncovertebral joint spurring.

Can anyone offer insight as to exactly what all of this means and what treatments may be best?

your MRI sounds pretty benign....words like small, mild----these findings are very common. More than likely your neck pain has nothing to do w your spine. it is probably muscular/postural-- like from hunching/rounded posture-- common in computer users for instance.
