miscarriage and delayed ovulation

by jaylamum, Oct 03, 2007 05:33AM
Hi... I had a miscarriage at about 8 weeks pregnant approximately 6 weeks ago.  I would like to start trying again, but am concerned about a recurrence.  My normal cycle is around 29 days, however, it is not unusual for this to vary from 28 to 35 days.  The month before I became pregnant I had a very long cycle (34 days) and it is likely that I ovulated late again in the next cycle when I became pregnant (as I only had sex on day 18 or 19.)  I am conerned that the late ovulation may have played a role in the cause of my miscarriage and thus may increase my chances of miscarrying again if my cycles continue to be longer than 28-29 days.  I have heard mixed information about whether or not this is the case?  Is it true that the egg may be too old if it is released after day 14-16? Or is it that the delayed ovulation may be due to a lack of normal hormonal function and thus not able to support early pregnancy?  Or is this just normal variation, and the miscarriage unlucky?
I have a healthy two year old daughter and at the time I conceived her my cycles ran 29 days the two months prior to conception.
Thanks very much
