constant headaches!

by meganmarie17, Oct 03, 2007 09:47PM
about 2 years ago, (i was a freshman in highschool) i was playing in a basketball game, and ended up landing on my head. shortly after that, i had started to experience some pretty severe headaches. i went for an MRI and the doctors found nothing, but they put me on amidrin. for a while, the amidrin was helping, but i found myself becomming almost immune to the perscribed dosage. within the last year and a half, i noticed that i've been getting the headaches more frequently. i also play softball, and i noticed when i get hot, or focus too long on something, my head starts to hurt and everything goes black for a second. (that hasnt happened in a while). but i still get the headaches. the amidrin does basicly nothing for me anymore, but i went from taking 2-3 in a day when i would experience a headache, from anywhere from 4-7. the only thing they do for me now is make me feel dizzy and want to go to sleep. i dont know what i should try. some help please?

Megan-
My doc put me on Maxalt 10mg.  It doesn't really help me for very long, but everyone is different.  Maybe it would help you.  You should ask your doc about it.  It's pretty new to the market.  Warning, it does make you kind of droopy, but at least the pain and the aura goes away!

Hi,
I would suggest you to please get a visual examination done to rule out eyesight problems. You can try OTC painkillers, sometimes they work better.
