Small Gestational Sac

by IcynSavannah, Oct 04, 2007 03:07PM
I'm currently 12 weeks into my pregnancy and been having ultrasounds every 2 weeks since week 6.  The fetal heart rate is strong - 156bmp at today's appointment with a perinatalogist - but the gestational sac is too small.  At today's appointment the technician performing the test was unable to take an accurate measurement of the baby due to the baby's inability to raise their head.  The best measurement that they were able to take show that the baby is only 10 weeks 3 days.  How much trouble could this be for the baby and will it cause an increased risk for miscarriage?  I'm to return to the perinatalogist in 1 week for another ultrasound and blood tests to check for chromosomal abnormalities.  I've been praying every day that all will be well but it's starting to make me very nervous.  Is there anything you can tell me to help explain all this.  I just get more confused each visit.
