IIH & lumbar shunts

I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension in August 2005 since then i have had at least 12 lumbar punctures and i was also on Diamox (Acetazolomide) but these didn't work very well to bring my pressure down, which at one point was up at 52. I got my first lumbar shunt inserted November 05 which only lasted for 6 days as it became infected and i developed meningitis, i got my second lumbar shunt inserted Dec' 05 and that was working great until Oct' 06 at which point it had moved out position and is now lying on my pelvis. My third shunt was inserted at this point but that fractured and i got it replaced in July this year but unfortunately a faulty shunt was inserted and i had to have it replaced six days later. I am waiting on word from my Neuro surgeon to go back into hospital again as they Doctors don't think this one is working as i am getting sever headaches and sight problems and also whooshing sounds in my ears again.
I would like to know if there is any other treatments i could be getting as a i severe pain in my back and loss of sensation in my left leg and i put this down to the many surgeries, or is there any other way to relieve the pressure without going into my spine again?
