Underarm lump and hard lymphnodes in legs?

by Minasmom, Oct 08, 2007 02:41PM
I have had a lump deep in right my armpit for several years. Many doctors felt it and brushed it off as nothing. During this time the lump would ache briefly or have a sharp shooting pain but nothing long term.

In mid August the lump started to hurt most of the time increasing in duration. The pain still comes and goes but is much more frequent than before. I also started getting nerve pain on the top of my upper arm and radiating in the muscles around my chest and back area. My small finger and the one next to it often feel numb or tingly and my hand aches. One day the pain was in my left arm-no explanation for that but it has not happened again. I also feel sharp aches in what I imagine are my lymph nodes in my legs and this weekend I was laying on the couch and felt the back of my right leg, and felt small hard lumps-maybe lymph nodes? Also the lump in my armpit has either moved down in position or multiplied I cannot tell-but it is much easier to feel versus before.

Anyway I went to the doctor who ordered several tests. The first being a mammogram. They called this morning and said indeed there is a 1cm lump in my right breast and I have to go in for more views and an ultrasound. Of course they don't have an apointment available for over a week so I am going to go insane. I have also had an emg (dont have the results yet) and am scheduled for a test for something for arteries.

I guess my question is, can a lump in the breast be associated with the lumps in my legs? Are the lumps in my legs normal and I am just noticing them because I am paranoid? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

How old are you? Since how long have you noticed the lumps?

Underarm lumps are axillary lymph nodes which could be enlarged secondary to infection or even trauma and in rare cases due to malignancy. They are usually enlarged when a new deodorant is used, after shaving or waxing the underarm area.

Have you got an ultrasound done as yet and have you got a clinical examination got done by a physician? This would help in coming to a confirmed diagnosis.

The leg lumps need to be examined to determine whether they are related or not. Your doctor could also advise a biopsy if required for a confirmed diagnosis.

Let us know if you have any more doubts and keep us posted on how you are doing.

Let us know about the mammogram report too.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
