Miscarriage

by shoba199, Oct 09, 2007 09:26AM
I had a miscarriage around the 9th week, when the progestrone should be produced by the placenta. The doctor told me that the miscarrage could be due to a chromosomal defect. When i called the office to release the blood test result they told me that the HCG hormone was low, could the doctor had done something to save the pregnancy. I even mentioned that I didn't have morming sickness which is a sign of low progestrone level.

There is nothing they can do for not normal rising HCG.  I never have morning sickness and have had 2 m/c's and 1 birth. This new pregnancy for me they did put me on progesterone because it "couldn't hurt" they say. But they don't have proof that it helps either. Sorry you are going through this rough time.

From what I've researched, hcg is more an indicator of whether the pregnancy is going to be viable or not.  If you're going to have a mc then getting progesterone will not save the pregnancy.  I've had 3 mc and on both, my hcg levels were low.  They gave me progesterone supplements but I had the mc anyway.  I'm sorry you're going through this.
