How do other societies deal with HIV?

I'm curious to fnd out.  How many are actually nurturing and accepting, and how many look down at disdain at them?  I know in some societies in Africa its heavil looked down on and can result in stoning or beatings.  I'm curious about the Islamic response though...

I don't know for sure, but my understanding is that there is not much love for HIV-positive people in the Islamic countries...

We can always talk about cultures, but this forum is not for discussion on religions. Africa is a blend of different religions, north and north east being Muslim dominating while central and south with Christian influence. Which part of Africa you are talking about ?

Very briefly, in a true  Muslim society, sex outside the committed matrimonial relationship, is a capital sin and strictly prohibited. Men, considering their polygamous nature, are allowed to marry with more than one wives with some very tough conditions applied. If people in the Muslim world do not honor those conditions, its not fault of the religion.

No religion teaches hatred with sick and helpless, but asks us to help them. It is the cultural practices which over rule the beautiful religious teachings.

I'm not talking about religion here, I'm talking about cultural perspective.  There is a definite culture influenced by Islam, just as the culture of the Western world is influenced by Christian morals.  I agree on the religious aspect not belonging here, but its undeniably influenced by it.
