RAD?

by Pat114, Oct 11, 2007 11:13AM
Hello,
Is there a viral form of RAD?  I've had a chronic cough for over a year; hacking, spasmodic and gag response with it, that comes on suddenly during the day, and particularly during sleep and after walking exercise.  I was hospitalized 6 mos ago with viral cardiomyopathy, and this cough was present beforehand.  My PCP says to see a pulmonologist, but I'm wondering if this is the correct path, or to go ENT route instead.  Any suggestions for self-help, proper diagnosis?
Many thanks,
PM
