Regular bowel movements at 6 weeks pregnant

by Lenae86, Oct 12, 2007 09:31AM
I am 6 weeks pregnant, taking prenatal vitamins. Everyone including doctor said I might get constipated from pregnancy and vitamins, but I am more regular now with my bowel movements than I was before I was pregnant. I have a bowel movement every morning, is this normal? I thought during pregnancy your were to be constipated? I have no pain, its solid and not weird looking colors, and I dont have to strain. Im just worried because alot of women say they are constipated and Im not. Please help.

Hello,

Be happy you are one of the fortunate ones.  Rest easy, having regular bowel movements is nothing to be concerned about.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

I am really regular all through pregnancy also.  I didn't even get constipated when I was on theraputic iron for anemia.  Maybe we just have good working systems!  Not everyone gets every pregnancy symptom.  Just like some women get no morning sickness and some have all day sickness all through their pregnancies.  Congratulations and I hope everything goes well!
