Meridian

by blueyz, Oct 15, 2007 10:31PM
I am meeting with my Dr. tomorrow to discuss Meridian.  I have tried the natural routes and at 32 the weight is shifting and not budging much.  I have tried the OTC weight loss aides, LA weight loss and diet and exercise.

I am 5'1 140.  I have a very petite frame and am desperate to get this extra weight off.  At my wedding a little over a year and a half ago; I was 125!  That was perfect for me.

My family has a history of obesity and it worries me.  Don't want to head down that road.  My sister was on Meridia for the last 6 months and probably lost about 30 pounds.  We are built about the same.  It worked wonders for her.

I am curious if anyone has had experience with Meridia.  I don't see much posted on the boards for it.

Any ideas on how I should approach my Dr. so I can get the script?

Thanks

I just got a subscription filled for Meridia; My Doctor stated it is the best diet drug on the market right now as long as you do not have high blood pressure.  I have been on it for three days and so far nothing.  I have a BMI of 48; and have struggled with weight all my life.  I am on a waiting list for a lap band but this is a couple years wait.  I am hoping this is a solution.  I too would like feedback from others that have had successes or failures on this drug.  It is very costly and not covered under our medical plan so input from others would be great

I have fought my weight since I was a child. I am 5'5" 220 lbs. I have tried every diet known to man and always loose about 20-30. This last bout with Atkins got me down to 199 lbs and then my back got really bad. I gained about 30# in 3 months (steriods and lack of exercize plus being very hungry).

I asked my doctor for Meridia as she knows I have lost/gained yo yo'd for years. My double insurance won't pay for it (even though my script is for anti-depression). I paid $155 for 30 day supply. I lost 8# in the first 2 weeks..... The first week I saw nothing on the scale then bam 3, then another 2 then another 3.

I no longer feel hungry and when I do eat food doesn't taste as well. Smaller portions usually has me satisifed. I feel like it is okay to have dessert now because I am not over eating at all any more and if I have a dessert just a couple of bites is all I need.

I imagine this is how normal non food addicts feel. I love this drug and hope I can loose another 40- 60  lbs before October. I am taking 15 mg as soon as I wake up and usually with a low carb protein shake. I try to remember to eat a small lunch and then a small dinner. I have no need to snack at night anymore..

Well worth the $$$$ for me. I figured I save at least that much on food/snacking.

Good luck,

Julie
