burning breasts

by scared225, Oct 17, 2007 06:40AM
I'm 51 and going through menopause - my cycle is irregular but I seem to get a burning sensation in both breasts but much more pronounced in my left breast.  My left breast is also the larger of the 2.  I'm guessing it's due to changing hormones.  I recently had my yearly mammogram and no changes.  I'm getting nervous about this burning because my best friend was just diagnosed with metasticized adenocarcinoma in her breast.  She had no symptoms but did find a lump under her arm - the cancer was not detected by mammograms or u/s.  She needed an MRI to diagnose.  Is burning breasts and an occasional pain caused by hormones at this age and stage of my life, or is it something I should be more concerned about.

Thank you.
