Ringworm Vs. an STD.

by trent986, Oct 17, 2007 05:34PM
i have had athletes foot (tinea pedis) for about 5 years now, since i was in 10th grade playing junior varsity football. i had normal itchiness and what-not between my toes as well as normal jock itch but never checked to see if there was any rashes or symptoms of medically defined jock itch (tinea cruris) and ive had acne problems since puberty, even as of now i still deal with pimples, not as bad but still have to deal with them, im 21 now. ive had acne on my face, back of my neck, my upper and lower back and on my buttocks. all at various times.  recently ive been incredibly more actice as far as physical exersize and have gotten more pimples on my upper back and buttocks again, its a pain in the butt so to speak but im deal with it. now my real question is this:

I've been sexually active since i was 17 and not once had unprotected sex, EVER. i refuse to have that risk, mainly to extremely reduce the risk of ever getting a girl pregnant.

I've done my own reseach on the internet with various medical websites, google images, and forums. recently ive noticed that ive been more itchy identical to the tinea cruris early symptoms and as well as when i had jock itch when i played football in high school. the images suggest a few different diseases that are similar in apperance to ringworm/jock itch/tinea cruris. a small (i'd say about, a cm in diameter) patch of dry skin on my inner right thigh close to my genitals but not on my genitals what-so-ever that suggests, with its appearance, gonorrhea. in combination with that the pimples on my buttocks suggest the apperance of syphillis, which was described as a small pimple like sore that is painless. which i would assume would be if you popped one like a pimple.  also, ive researched scabes as well and they have a similar apperance as well. . . with all this, i do not have any other symptoms of gonorrhea, syphillis, scabes, etc... no pain or burning during urination, the itchiness is very subtle, and dosent constantly itch., nor do i have a yellow smily discharge to suggest gonorrhea.  you get the idea, no other symptoms... also within the past two weeks i have been getting over a real bad cold combined with seasonal allergies. ive taken various cold medications and allergy medications. vitamins and drank a lot of water.

is is possible that i am scaring my self into a paranoia that i have a disease when it infact could just be tinea cruris, acne and a cold.?? i do not have a loss of appetite for sure, no fatigue at all, ive been regularly active with both skateboarding and mainly BMXing. i have no dizziness or abnormal (by stating abnormal, what i mean is, i do get bruised and sore from riding my bike at skateparks)muscular soreness or pain.  i just had a company paid physical exam for a job  i applied for and i passed it.

i have one other problem with all these hypocondracial thoughts... i do not have the money to get tested for these std's to have the assurance to have a confirmed answer.  nor do i have medical insurance, ive been living on my own back and forth along with living with my parents for a few years now and ive had no medical insurance for about 3 years.  ive also been goin from job to job, so i have no money saved up to even pay for a test. are there other ways to do self tests or cultures and what not?

i'm just worried that i could have maybe got something off of a toilet seat or in any other means of transmitting something, becuase i know there are STD's (sexually transmissible diseases) that you don't even need to have any sexual interaction to get.

can you help me, id like to know, even if its just a proffesional opinion.

Get some Tinactin or some other antifungal cream and put it on the dry skin. Use rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to clean the pimples. If both go away then you know you're ok!

I freaked myself real bad in Hawaii one time because I wore my bathing suit all the time and didn't dry off properly! Sure enough, it was just jock itch... antifungal cream cured my herpes fears!
