hi.  i went to my internists this week  due to lower left quadrant pain for about 6 weeks which intensified this week (gyno couldn't see me for 3 weeks)  i am 47, have 4 children, see my gyno yearly and have always had normal check ups and mammograms.  dr did pelvic and said all felt normal, so sent me for pelvis us and tvu.  tech noted seeing nothing :horrible" but did see cysts and said as i am still menstruating and ovulating was normal.  report came back saying cyst high up on uterus (according to nurse, dr. would not call me) and wants a ct scan...they said all organs are normal size no enlargments but need this to detemiine what type of cyst it is?  am going today for test but am pterified!  any thoughts?

Hello,

I would not want to speculate based on the limited information given.  Speak with your physician regarding the imaging, he or she should have a differential diagnosis in mind based on what is seen on CT/PUS and your physical exam.  If you learn more let me know.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
