Nursing after breast reduction?

by 25forever, Oct 18, 2007 08:38PM
Hi! I'm a 31 year old G cup. I've never had children but would like to and nurse them. If I have a breast reduction, can I still nurse if I have kids? Also, if I do become pregnant after the reduction, will I experience any more pain than normal from my breast expanding during the pregnancy?

Thanks!

The ability to breast feed after breast reduction is dependent on the technique used for the reduction which, in turn, is dependent on your current size and healing ability.  No matter what method is used for the reduction, there is still no absolute certainty that you will be able to successfully breast feed.  (This is also true even if you have no surgery at all.) I would not expect any more pain or discomfort with breast engorgement with or without the reduction surgery.
