a Reacurrence after Radical hysterectomy

by jestes6, Oct 18, 2007 11:30PM
5 years after a radical hysterectomy due to cervical cancer. My wife noticed a little bleeding which required a visit to a Gyn. 2 weeks a pap smear, that was normal, and CT scan that showed a Large mass 7 centimeters in and around the rectal area. She was refered to a Gyn/Onc specialist. A Biopsy was performed that is Non malignant, a Chest Xray and a rectal swab that were both Normal.
The specialist, still sure that this is a reacurrence of the cervical cancer, sent her to a Radiation Oncologist. (We are at this point now) This doctor was asked to set up a CTscan Biopsy to make sure it is or is not cancer, but wants to talk about Chemo and radiation before the Biopsy. We felt that the Biopsy should come first, so we made them aware of this and they did reschedule the ctscan biopsy this morning. To follow up with Radiation consult Tuesday.
The Radiation Oncologist explained to us how the procedure will work, and
That they would enter the center of the mass to draw fluid with a very small needle, of course he would not be the person doing the procedure.
This is where a new Doctor told us how the procedure was really going to happen. They want to pull a chunk of the mass near the center . My wife was immediately not happy and asked a question that we have been asking since we found out it may be Cancer. If you  do the Biopsy and it does turn out to be Cancer, Will this cause the cancer cells to spread? We have been told yes by 2 doctors and the ones we have been paying seem to avoid the question.
Also the doctors are surprised that my wife is not feeling bad still has an appetite, not tired, no weight loss, Just pressure from the mass. If anyone knows the answer to this, please reply.
we have been looking at a Hospital called the Oasis of Hope in Tiajuana, Has anyone been there??
We are considering there program, and would like to know . We are needing a doctor that will not abondon us. 4 weeks and 5 different doctors 5 different explanations on everything. We just need the facts besides what you get off the internet. Please Help.

Hi,
I do not know your answers,..but I will keep you in my prayers. I had a Hysterectomy in July, and am bleeding now, just here and there. The hysterectomy took my tubes, ovaries, and cervix and uterus. I am almost thirty,..the Dr. wants to put me on hormones, but I will not take them at this point because of a undiagnosed (at this point) lump in my breast. I actually passed a blood clot the other day,...Makes me a bit nervous, but the Dr. thinks It's just the lining of my vaginal wall thinning???
I don't know all the answers, but I like you, am hoping to find some out and be healthy, and live to raise my kids!!! Before the Hysterectomy, I had a left side pain, they thought it was my endrometryitis. I still have that same pain,...I am getting paranoid,..and a bit frustrated,...But I am still out here looking for answers!
I wish you the best!!!
