Recto-vaginal fistula

I had a baby in 2000 and it cause a 4th degree tear. 6 months after I realized gas was escaping from my vagina. I went to my OB in June of 2001 and he told me I had a fistula. I had surgery in June 2001 to repair it. Everything went well, my second child was born by c-section so I would not re injure that area. Now as of today ( 2007) I feel as though a tiny bit of air/gas is leaking out of my vagina. Is it possible I need surgery again? Thanks for you help.

I had a recto-vaginal fistula, They first put a drain in there December of 2006. Then Feb,2007 they took me in for surgery and she cut between (you know) and packed the fistula with skin from inside and then sewed me up. I was in the hospital for 3 days. Where she stitched me up, I thought it would never close. There was a small hole and it would drain a little blood for over a year. Knock on wood, this may I noticed no more draining. The hole is closed. But I was told that sometime you will need surgery again because sometimes it does not take the first time. But if you think there is air/gas coming from you vagina you better tell you doctor. I had went to the Cleveland Clinic and they were very good. Be well.
