Resuming Sexual Intercourse After Miscarriage

by kearneys, Oct 19, 2007 01:09PM
I had a medically induced miscarriage (the fetus was not viable) by use of mesopristol.  I have stopped bleeding and wanted to know how soon it was safe to resume sexual intercourse.  My husband and I will be eagerly awaiting your response.

I see that this is a fairly old question - I am just now going through old email and catching up!  So, I sure hope you have resumed sex!
Basically, for anyone else who has this question, you can resume intercourse in a few weeks ( so that there is no chance of infection through the cervix) and as soon as it is not painful and you are emotionally ready. The body gets its act together quicker than you might think.. sometimes, if there is an minor or major surgery besides a natural birth people have to wait for that to heal. Epidurals sometimes take a bit to heal. But in general, two weeks or so is plenty.

Hi, general rule is either two weeks after miscarriage or when you have ceased bleeding, for by then the cervix has closed, and infection can not through. So you should be fine. Good Luck!
