Please help me

by Zuky, Oct 20, 2007 05:41AM
I've been anorexic for two years. I've just turned 16 and I'm at my lowest weight- 90lbs/41kg. I'm getting very scared. I've been in hospital with a nasogastric tube before but I don't want that again. Is it possible to be able to have a nasogastric tube and be able to still go to school and stay at home, so I don't go back to hospital? I'm really in desperate need of an answer, any help is really appreciated.

I feel for you. I know the pain you are going thru. I started having problems when I as 23 .My weight got very low by the time I was 28 I really thought I was going to die. If you need a nasogastric tube you are going to have go into the hospital . Are you getting any help. I really think you are going to need an inpatient setting to get better . You are 16 you have a great life ahead of you .Get this under control
now ,I know you will miss home and school.  Some help now could spare you years  pain down the road.  What care have you been receiving ?

Thankyou for replying to me. I'm sorry that you have gone through this hell as well. I hope you're better than what you were. I am getiing some help, I'm seeing a psychiatrist once a week and I talk to a very close friend of mine about it who's trained in counselling. My psychiatrist is good, only he doesn't touch the anorexia issue, he only really deals with my depression and borderline personality disorder. I'm seeing my paediatrition on thursday, Mum wants me in hospital with the tube. :( I don't know what my doctor will think. I really don't want to end up back in hospital, I've been there seven times and a friend of mine from there who had anorexia recently died there. I don't want to go back. I just don't know if I'm at a critical point or not, that's all. I've been in Psych units three times and in the long run, they didn't help me. I don't know what to do anymore.

There is hope Zuky!  Have your parent/s or doctor gather information regarding 'treatment centers'. I work in a wonderful treatment center (which I'm sorry I can't recommend due to confidentially rules) but I have seen young girls at the worst points of their lives turn it around and gain health and happiness. It is work, but can be done with lots of love and support. You deserve to enjoy life without the ED thoughts consuming you.   BELIEVE!
