Hi ladies, I wanted to ask you all a question. I only get AF for 4 days and sometimes I dont get it for months. Anyway, my question is can one still ovulate even if they get or not get AF. Ive been TTC for a while now and nothing yet. I have an app. to see if my tubes are clogged. OB said if their not then she will start me on some meds to help me ovulate more often. How can one tell that they are ovulating? Ok well I asked my question and I hope its not a stupid one. Thanks for taking the time out and reading...

You can tell you are ovulating if you use ovulation predictor sticks which tell you when you have an LH surge.  Also if you take your bbt you will see a sharp rise in temperature right after the LH surge and ovulation.  If you never see the rise in temps you did not ovulate.  The rise in temps is due to progesterone from the corpus luteum which happens after ovulation occurs.  Hence LH surge=ovulation=progesterone=rise in temps. Or no ovulation=no progesterone=no rise in temps.  One other thing to note if you have long cycles you do not ovulate on day 14, you actually ovulate 14 days before the start of your next period (usually) therefore it is very hard to predict ovulation without using bbt or sticks with long cycles (and you may end up spending a fortune on those kits - I had to buy two per cycle!).  The meds should help shorten your cycles and help a lot.  Good luck!
