confused about my headaches

by katrina1070, Oct 21, 2007 07:31PM
I am a young woman experiencing unusual headaches. I have a "heavy sensation" feeling on top of my head, and sharp pains in my temples and at the base of my skull where it attaches to my spine. The heavy sensation is almost always present, while the sharp pains come randomly in different places. Sometimes in my temples I also expierence a fuzzy, crawly feeling. Also, occasionally my ears will not "pop," and it takes several days for them to do so. These head feelings have only been present a few months. I believe I have some form of anxiety that is accompanied with this, and have trouble sleeping at night. At night I almost always have crazy thoughts coming from the anxiety. I am also expierencing heartburn at the same time. I have a heavy chest feeling, and it is present with the headaches. So far the only thing I am taking for these symptoms is Pepcid AC and Ibprofen. I am also on Concerta for concentration issues, and birth control. About a year and a half ago I had an MRI and EEG for a completely different reason, and both came up with no abnormal results. However I am wondering if something life threatening could have happened since then? Or am I just letting my anxiety expect the worst? What is the best way to approach this problem?

Hi,
First you need to try some OTC painkillers and see if that helps. Try some antacids for the heartburn symptoms. Also take some antianxiety medication like alprazolam which should be of help. Sleep is important and try listening to soft music, reading a book, a warm shower before you sleep. Get an ENT evaluation done for ruling out vertigo. Get your blood pressue checked. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Consult a physician and rule out cervical spondylitis too. Goodluck.
