Looking for info

Hi,
I recently found a lump, and had a mam o gram and ultrasound done, I do not have the results back yet,..but I did catch on that on the ultrasound, just above where I feel the bump shows really thick fibroidous tissues,..and I do believe it was said to be quite a lot of it. Does that mean that it is just fibroids? Or is that something to be concerned with? And the fact that I am 29, have already had a hysterectomy because of carsinoma in situ scares me,( I also had ovaries removed,..as I  also had endrometreosis)..does that up my chances, for cancer else wear in my body?  Can the stress of the other surgery and 5 other surgeries,..for tubal, and d&c's, stress my body into growing cancer? I seem to worry more than relax,...and am thinking a lump can't be a good sign. Any advice?
Thanks!

If the radiologist feels further investigation of the lump is required, they will order a biopsy (core or excisional). The only way to definitively tell if a lump is benign or malignant is through a biopsy of the cells/tissue, and a pathology report confirming the diagnosis. Younger women do have dense breasts and there may be nothing to worry about. It could be a fibroadenoma, which is benign.
Some 80% of reported lumps are benign so hold on to that until you get the mammo/ultrasound report.
Good luck

Personally, I think stress COULD cause tumors to grow.  That has happened to both me and my mother.  But, my surgeon told me that stress doesn't cause tumors, per se, but that stress could excelerate what you might have gotten in 15-20 yrs.    All you could do is take whatever tests that your doctors ask you to do.  Tumors are solids on mammos, so if you didn't hear the radiologist say there was a solid, then you probably don't have anything to worry about.  Do you have "cystic breasts"?  Most of the cause for that is from too much caffeine.  Do you drink too much coffee or cola??????  That could make cystic breasts hurt like the devil!  Good Luck to you

Hi,
I have never had cystic breasts? I have never had a lump of any kind until after the hysterectomy,..now I have a small zit things under my armpit(tiny) and think that the one gland is swollen,..I hate the wait,..I guess I am going on the first to see a surgon? I am afraid they may not do anything, and it may be something??? I hope I can get answers!
I will let you know what I find out, when I know something???? As far as caffeine,.. I do drink soda, but I don't keep it in the house, because I like it too much,..so I may have three to five soda's a week,..is that enough, to cause problems? I have never had problems in the past,..

I kept getting little lumps in my armpits.  While I was on 5-yr Tamoxifen therapy I used Tom''s Natural Deodorant like oncology dept requested during radiation therapy.  Well, a yr after I finished Tamoxifen I started using antiperspirant again.  I started getting these little lumps under the arm.  Even a couple of inches towards the breast.  So, it seemed weird.  Doctor told me to go back to natural deodorant.  Lumps stopped within two days and I never got them again.  That was five months ago.  If you had cystic breasts your doctors would have told you so.  And I mean alot of caffeine.  Like 3-5 cups a day.  Try the deodorant thing.  Maybe that'll work.

are you sure it would have shown up on the mammo if I had cystic breasts? Nothing showed up,..still have the lump, raised area,..deep in my one breast, but not the other,..I told my husband tonight, that I have an appt. to see a surgon on the first, and he is real opposed to the idea,.(I have been knocked out, and cut alot in the past few years with d&c's and tubal, and hysterectomy,...).my mammo came back o.k,...either showed a spot of thick fibroidous tissue or nothing, depending who you went by,..now I am wondering, how much I need to investigate farther? Would an MRI be better for me,..or would a surgon order one for me?I am feeling on the stressed side,..big time!

Hi,

Glad you have an apptmt w/surgeon.  I understand what you are going through, I do.  The surgeon will look at the mammo with you (make sure to bring them w/you).  He or she will decide how to proceed.  Men just don't understand.  They don't like other men (even surgeons) touching your breasts and they say things that they don't always mean.  I remember mine saying something like "no one is gonna touch my bubbies", and of course, the surgeon did.  It's funny now, but it wasn't funny then, believe me.  The worry while I was waiting.  Then,  I had a lumpectomy the next month!  Your hubby could be getting a little frustrated when the radiologist said there's nothing and you are insisting that there's a lump.  But you know your own body.  Go with it!  I'm much older than you, but I've been through the ringer too!  Broken jaw, ribs, uterine ablation, milk duct removal, lumpectomy, gastro surgery.  So, mine gets frustrated, too.  Gonna be busy the next few days, so good luck on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!  :)
