4 year old having problem adjusting to preschool

My 4 year old daughter is having trouble adjusting to her preschool environment. She is happy to go to school and says she likes it but the teacher tells me she is angry most of the time and will not make eye or social contact with the teacher and most of the kids. She is often angry at school and also refuses to go to the potty at school (but goes at home fine). Today she hit another child with a doll. Prior to preschool my daughter was in daycare and that always went fine, she was very close to her teachers and interacted well with the other children.
My daughter is a very happy, easy child although she can be headstrong and stubborn at times, particularly when scared. I think she is exhibiting this behavior because school is a new environment, there are a lot more rules and regulations and since she is feeling insecure she is acting out. The teacher is acting like this is such unusual behavior and I am confused about whether I should really just let some time pass or if I should be worried there is a developmental or behavioral problem coming to the surface.
