Low Back Pain

My fiancé was taking a shower and her legs buckled from under her and she fell backwards in the tub. Her back landed firmly on the tubs floor, and her neck slammed into the ceramic basin. This all happened on October 15th, 2007. I took my fiancé to the ER and they did a CATSCAN of her back, the doctor stated that she had all the signs of a fracture in the back, but the CATSCAN stated differently. They said that everything was normal, no fracture, no bulging disks, no herniated disks, nothing was wrong. But they kept my fiancé over night to make sure that everything was fine with her. They released my fiancé on Tuesday the 16th at 6 pm. And told us that if she can't walk or has lost of bladder control or no bowel movement that we should come back in and get some other tests done. When we got back home that same night, my fiancé could hardly walk; I  had to carry her into the house, and place her on the sofa and put pillows under her back, her head, and raised her feet up. The next day she couldn't walk at all; she couldn't walk to the bathroom, only crawl. She has stated that her lower back hurts in the L5-L6-S1 areas, and that she has no feeling in her right leg at all. There is no shooting pain, or tingling, or pins and needles. And she hasn't had a bowel movement since before the accident of her falling. And just last night, we have been noticing that her bladder is leaking. I have a clue and what is the matter, but need to know what the knowledgeable people think it is. Please people I need some answers, since her doctors won't do anything about this.

Yes, We are going to the ER again today, I called the ER and they said to get her in to the place, so they can do a re-evaluation.

I took my fiance back to the ER monday, and they did a CATSCAN on her cervical and head, she has lost all control of her bladder and still no bowel movements. The CATSCAN came back negative once again, but the ER doctor told us to get a referral from the family doctor to see a Neurologist. We have an appointment with her doctor Oct. 25th, at 8:45 am, to see what can be done.

she needs an MRI of the lumbar spine to rule out damage to the spinal cord, (cauda equina syndrome is the first thing to rule out if there is bowel or bladder problems.  The trauma of the fall can also induce a lot of swelling and inflammation in that region causing the L5-S1 nerve root to become compressed or compromised explaining the current numbness in the leg.
