confused

I recently went to Cancun mexico for 8 days, I went really pale and came back with a pretty good tan. Right after I got back i noticed that a small area of skin on my hand was at least a couple of shades darker than the rest of my skin. the area is all the same shade of light brown and about size of a dime with irregular borders. It looks like hyperpigmenation, but im scared that it could be something worse. It has now been about 3 weeks and has still not gone away; however, it has not gotten any darker either. I was wondering if this could be a result of getting a tan really fast. I usually tan really good and don't burn easily.Im only 23 years old and I doubt it could be age spots, I just need an expert opinion before I see a doctor.
Thanks

It's likely to be just pigmentation of some sort, not skin cancer.  If it worries you, show it to a skin doctor.  But skin cancers don't happen right after you get back from the sun.  They take years to develop.

Best.

the same thing happened to me when i went to cancun. It is just pigmentation which is more likely to develop if you are taking certain common medications, such as the pill. it will completely fade. As the doctor says skin cancers take years to develop.
