Lower Left Back Pain

I have had lower left back pain for the past 2 - 3 years off and on. However, for the last 2 or 3 nights, it has gotten much worse. I put some biofreeze on it and get some sleep until it wears off, then the pain comes back. It seems it comes only at night. I have told doctors about it, but they just say, "I do not know what it is." I have been on dialysis (peritoneal) for about 5 1/2 years. Recently, I have noticed an increase in urine output and at times I feel I've got to go, but cannot seem to empty my bladder. I also have learned recently that I have parathyroid problems in which I will have to have surgery in a couple of weeks. I understand that this can cause an increase in urine output, so that may be the cause of the increase. I believe my lower left back pain is something else because I have had it before, only not as painful as it is now.
