Need opinions quick

Ok i ruptured my left distal bicep in january... well when april rolls around my dad decides this might be serious and i need to have it checked out. Well long story short i end up having surgery and everything is ok but a month after surgery the hospital sends me a bill saying that the insurance wasn't gonna cover it. I'm on my dads insurance... my dad called them twice before surgery and they said it would be ok.. and correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't the hospital have to ok insurance before they even let you in the operating room? Well i end up getting medicaid  or medicare one of those but that didn't do any good cause i didn't get it till 4 months after surgery. So what should i do? I'm 20 years old,no car, and i can't pay the bill cause i couldn't work because of the injury and now not having insurance is halting my physical therapy.

Yea i wish the medicade/medicare went back but i called my case worker and he said it does not go back any (maybe it's just cause of the state i live in) but who knows? I know since it wasn't my insurance it was my dads i can't do anything and my dad just seems like he doesn't give a ****, i'm 20 years old and my credit is already going to be ruined for the rest of my life. Nope his insurance didn't cover 1 penny of it.. i just don't know what to do 1 of the bills has already been turned into a collection agency. That one is only like $300 but i'm really going to be screwed when they turn that 7,000..... 3,000..... and another 3,000 into collections ( yes i'm about $14,000 in debt right now) But thanks for hoping everything goes well that very kind of you.

I believe they normally try to. I would talk to the hospital and I would also file an appeal with your father's insurance company.
