what to expect?

i am 45 and have had ovarian cysts before but they always resolved themselves until now.  7 wks ago i was told i had a cyst on both ovaries but , although they were 1-2 inches in size, they were fluid filled and i was to just come back for a followup.  i tried to cancel the appt but they strongly encouraged me to keep it.  i went back in a week ago and discovered that one had resolved but the other is now a complex septated cyst.  it is 2 inches in size.  also, they say i have uterine wall thickening.  they set me up to speak with a surgeon. i am doing that this week.  what am i heading into?  a hysterectomy?  biopsies?  newday1

I really don't know alot about cysts, however from my time on here I have learned that when things change they consider surgery, because it is the only way to truly diagnosis anything ovarian.  Uterus's I do not know about thickening.  What kind of surgeon are you seeing?  A Gyn/Onc?   You will know more when you speak to the surgeon, maybe I can be of more help with answers then.  The majority of cysts are benign, I would however rather have one that changed out, rather than in.  Good luck to you, when do you see the surgeon?

i am just seeing a gyn surgeon...not a gyn onc.  i go soon.   i have already been told that the cyst will be removed and at least a d&c or ablation will be done about the other.  this was what the nurse practitioner said after the ultrasounds.  she also said there is a possibility of something more involved.  ??  what do you mean by "changing out, rather than in"?   i have done some research but i don't quite understand some of the terminology.  i pray i don't get well versed on the subject.  i am reading comments from a very strong and determined population on this forum and i am impressed.  this is my first forum but i believe i need some info to alleviate some concerns or perhaps prepare me.

i responded back with the wrong name.  i am sorry for that.  w/o the glasses i miss things. the follow up went well.  the dr actually set my mind at ease.  she has a different take on the appearance of the cyst.  she believes it to be fluid filled with a septation but without other solids.  she thinks it does have debris components, however.  she also isn't concerned about the uterine wall thickening b/c i have no history of endometriosis.  she said that she would probably do a d&c at some point if i continue to have excessive bleeding.  i am to follow up with her and a repeat ultra sound in one month and will then assess whether to remove the cyst and how to proceed.  we are hopeful the cyst resolves itself.  thank you for your input.  i pray your day is blessed.  newday1
