Swelling lump and discoloration of penis

by ummmyeah, Oct 24, 2007 12:45AM
aI am a 22 year old male with no known/diagnosed health problems. About 2 months ago I had protected sex with a new girl, and the next morning I noticed a lump/swollen spot just below the head of my penis. The lump was about the size of a quarter, and raised from the skin about the thickness of up to three quarters. There was no pain, and the lump was soft and a little puffy. I decided to see if it went away on its own. It mostly went away after about 3 days or so, so I let it go. but was still slightly noticeable

In having sex the night before this appeared, foreplay and rubbing/dry sex was a little rougher than I'm used to,causing some discomfort. Then vaginal intercourse lasted about 20 min. at the end of intercourse she was starting to lose her lubrication, causing a lot of friction; leading to the condom breaking. I didn't realize the condom broke till after intercourse because when it happened, i thought she just re-lubricated.

An unusual thing I did that night, was washed my penis after intercourse using Purel hand sanitizer. I was fairly intoxicated at the time and was parodied about STDs, being drunk it seemed like a good idea. She was since tested for stds with neg. results.

a week ago I started seeing someone new. The new girl and I have not yet had vaginal intercourse. we have fooled around(not rough or uncomfortable) and I did receive oral sex form her. Once again the next day the lump re-appeared as before, and seems to be going away now.. Today I also noticed some random discomfort with my penis, including slight discomfort when I pee, along with a slight internal itching feeling. Neither of which i'm sure about being related or not

Another symptom possibly unrelated is a discoloration at the head of my penis. It is faint and the color of a bruise. It appeared about 8 months ago after unprotected sex with my ex girlfriend for the first time. However both of us were tested for STDs since with negative results

Thanks

Difficult to say without examination.  I agree with the tests for STDs.  Further testing can include tests for herpes, as well as examination of the prostate with a prostatic massage and analysis of the prostatic fluid.

Imaging the area with an ultrasound can rule out a cyst or mass.

If infection has been ruled out, a cystoscopy can be done to exclude an anatomical condition like a urethral stricture or polyp.

These options can be discussed with a urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
