Co-infections with lymes

by eliza85, Oct 24, 2007 08:14AM
I have been sick since June 24th, diagnosed in Sept with lymes. I tested positve 7 out of 10 on the igg and 1 out of 2 on the igm. I'm pretty sure I've had lymes for a long time but wasn't sick enough to go seek help, this time I was!  I have been on two 15 day treatments of Docxy and am not feeling very much better. In fact I keep getting weird infections like some kind of herpy's rash on my hand which I  took an anti-viral for and it cleared up. But now for two  almost 3 weeks I have been fighting thrush (yeast infection in my whole body) 2 courses of treatment for that and I still have the dry mouth! Has anyone else had problems with this kind of stuff? I'm new with posting questions like this so I hope you all can help. I've read a lot from the internet but it doesn't really answer specifics...

since your lyme tests were positive, I need to ask is your doc a LLMD (someone who treats Lyme Disease and knows the most current treatments).  Most treatments call for a mix of ABX drugs and some other possible additives depending how long you have had Lyme and the symptoms.  Sounds like you need a detailed plan to treat the disease since yeast infections and the hand rashes make your treatment harder.  Go to this site and read this guide.  You will be smarter than most of the average doctors on lyme treatment.  good luck.         http://www.ilads.org/files/burrascano_0905.pdf

It's Lyme, not Lymes (just fyi).  People in my support group have mentioned problems like this.  Are you taking any probiotics like acidophilus to counter the side effect of antibiotics?  Take them inbetween, not at the same time, or it's a waste.  Get the refrigerated kind, not the kind on the shelf, from what I understand.  It doesn't sound like you were on antibiotics long enough, not nearly long enough (especially since you didn't accept immediate treatement).  It's a slow process, but stick with it, find the ones that work for you, and make sure to let your doctor know your also having yeast problems.  Don't worry about how you sound....we all know how it is.
