Long-term complications

My husband had an inferior wall MI back in the late 1980's. Now 53, he is 5'8", between 250-300 lbs, on Crestor for familial hyperlipidemia, and cardiac ASA. He has developed venous stasis bilaterally in his legs, with moderate pretibial pitting and has had several small stasis ulcers, none currently. On cardiac cath last year, they noted pulmonary hypertension, a normal systemic BP around 100/60, and some decreased RV movement. He has also developed DOE when dressing and performing ADL, and has curtailed his recreational activities, saying he is getting 'old'. He has had a normal blood sugar so far, and will not tell me his exact weight or what the doctors advise him to do. He took several years off from his cholesterol reducing meds, going back on Crestor only this past year. What might I anticipate if he continues this way?

I guess its the old adage, you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink....I hope he opens up and lets you know what is happening, either way, sounds like you need some support. Seek it out from a cardiac support grp. The cardiologists office will be a good place to start to ask about caregiver support groups.
